Who are ABT?

The ABT group was founded in 1987 by Andrew Tollett, who had a vision that the establishment of successful IT within the UK's business enterprise was a goal that had to be pursued.

The vision of society working from home, enjoying enhanced communication business and social environment could only be achieved, not through technology, but through people's knowledge, understanding and use of that technology.

Having worked in both large and small businesses successfully, it was recognised that technology would evolve, and if understood and employed properly it could empower the individual. This would be achieved by working in teams. In doing so, the teams could achieve what was previously the domain of only the large companies, institutions, and corporations.

Or more simplistic, giving power to the people through people's knowledge.

Initially starting with consultancy, it wasn't long before the needs of training established itself as the dominant requirement of our clients.

This went from Andrew training clients at their sites, to, before long a team of specialist independent trainers being available for a wide range of tasks to our now much larger client base. Thus was born ABT Software Training.

This aspect of our business has grown so that we have provided training for customers as diverse as the Largest US and UK corporations, Government, both local and central, most of the major training companies, and literally our local corner shop.

Our commitment to quality on computer training led us to provide a helpline service for people who after the training wanted some small queries dealt with. This we provided for free and indeed, we still do so.

After a short while, it was identified that most small business did not have their own in-house guru to be able to ask computing questions of, and so, a new service was launched called Advice By Telephone . For a very small fee, on a subscription basis, any one who had need of some telephone support was, and is able, to access our team of computer advisors. This service we have provided for literally thousands of customers, as well as on a corporate basis, for Computer Shopper, Computer Buyer, Computer Pro, Personal Computer  World, Computer Active and other magazines, as well as various corporate and one of the largest companies in the insurance industry and now one of the household names in directories.

In order to complete the total computer care and computer service to the accessible local business community, we have now combined the above, and coupled it with consultancy, installation, on-site maintainence, and many other services to provide small businesses with an affordable, all embracing, friend in the computer industry. This is now a separate organisation in its own right.

The established businesses within ABT now have the additional resources provided by ABT Specialist Services which incorporate new and growing areas for development within the group, and in particular, maintainence, the World Wide Web, Sage, Accounting, Networking, and many other professional areas of need.
